Researchers at the University of Manchester, in collaboration with the Pension Advisory Group and Law for Life/Advice Now, have found that in the UK, men within couples have substantially more private pension wealth than women, which poses particular challenges when they divorce.
The team, which included DEEPEN post-doctoral researcher Hayley James, created a video animation, aimed at members of the public who are getting divorced about the potential for pension sharing. This work was funded by an award from the Economic and Social Research Council, the Nuffield Foundation and the University of Manchester.
